Adolescence et territoire(s) is an artistic and cultural education program initiated by the Odéon-Théâtre de l'Europe in 2012, conducted in partnership with the Espace 1789, the T2G -Théâtre de Gennevilliers and supported by Vivendi Create Joy. For one season, twenty young people aged 15 to 20 from areas close to the Ateliers Berthier (17th) are introduced to dramaturgy and acting under the direction of artists.
Aeschylus' Suppliantes are the Danaids, fifty sisters who have fled their homeland to escape the marriage their cousins would like to impose on them. After crossing the Mediterranean, they arrive in Greece, where they ask the citizens of Argos for hospitality. Ready to do anything to escape the deplorable fate that has befallen them, they have nothing to offer in exchange but their determination and strength of conviction. Aged 15 to 21, sixteen actors follow in their footsteps, sharing their heroism and humanity in a quest as absolute as it is eternal. Through the fate of the Suppliantes, it is indeed our entire era that resonates, from the issue of the rights of foreigners to that of violence against women, demonstrating once again the timeless power of myths.
